Description()

Fruits of cao dou kou show up rarely in imported potpourri. These multiple fruits, similar to that of a tiny osage-orange [M. pomifera (Raf.). C. K. Schneid.], are globular, 1-2 cm in diameter. The fruit is also edible and used medicinally or in soups.

Alpinia hainanensis is native to China and Vietnam.
