Diagnosis

 

Rhadinosa can be distinguished by the following combination of characters:

  • lateral margin of pronotum and elytra with long spines
  • antennomere 1 with long spine
  • pronotum with anterior margin with branched spine on each side
  • tarsal claws not fused, symmetrical

Description

 

Body small, elongate; subparallel; subconvex; color black with metallic sheen; total length 2.4 to 5.6 mm.

Head: quadrate; convex; vertex coarsely punctate to rugose, medial sulcus present.

Antenna: widening apically; reaches to base of pronotum; with 11-antennomeres; antennomere 1 incrassate, with long spine; 2 subglobose, short; 3 cylindrical, 2x length of 2; 4 to 10 transverse, subequal in length; 11 slightly longer than 10, rounded at apex.

Pronotum: transverse; lateral margin rounded, with 3 spines- 2 with common base and a single unbranched (2+1); anterior angle rounded, with small tooth; anterior margin curved, with branched spine on each side; posterior angle rounded; posterior margin bisinuate; surface rugose, with white setae.

Scutellum: cordate.

Elytron: lateral margin straight, with long spines; exterior apical angle rounded, with long spines; apical margin subtruncate, with long spines; humerus angulate, not produced; with 8 irregular rows of punctures plus scutellar row; disc with strong erect spines.

Leg: mesotibiae curved; tarsal claws not fused, symmetrical.
