Isopedhispa ferruginea Spaeth.

Diagnosis

 

Isopedhispa can be distinguished by the following combination of characters:

  • lateral margin of pronotum and elytra without long, stiff spines
  • head with narrow frontal horn which is acuminate apically, with small lamina under antennal base visible from above
  • antennomere 1 without spine-like process
  • pronotum with anterior angles oblique, with seta in each anterior angle
  • elytra with 8 rows of punctures basally plus scutellar row, 10 rows apically, costae visible on apical ½
  • prosternum with anterior margin not expanding forward

Description

 

Body elongate; depressed; subparallel; color black or reddish-brown; total length 8.5 to 9.5 mm.

Head: cephalic plate quadrate, medial sulcus present; frontal horn narrow, short, not as wide as long at base, acuminate apically; with small lamina under antennal bases visible from above; clypeus 2x as long as wide; eye large, convex.

Antenna: filiform; reaches to humerus; with 11-antennomeres; antennomere 1 incrassate, more than 2x length of 2; 2 obconic; 3 to 10 cylindrical, decreasing in length; 11 longer than 10, pointed at apex.

Pronotum: lateral margin sinuate, converging from base to apex, margined; anterior angle oblique, with seta and small tooth; anterior margin curved; posterior angle rounded; posterior margin bisinuate; surface punctate.

Scutellum: subtriangular.

Elytron: lateral margin straight, smooth; exterior apical angle rounded; apical margin truncate; humerus rounded, not produced; with 8 rows of punctures basally, 10 apically, plus scutellar row; tricostate, costae more visible on apical ½.

Venter: prosternum with anterior margin not expanding forward.

Leg: short; robust; punctate.
