Type Species

Callistola (Freycinetivora) can be distinguished by the following combination of characters:

  • lateral margin of pronotum and elytra without long, stiff spines
  • head with minute frontal horn between antennae
  • antennomere 1 without spine-like process
  • pronotum without seta in each anterior angle, anterior angles oblique, lateral margin not angulate on anterior ⅓
  • elytra with 8 rows of punctures basally and scutellar row, 10 rows apically, costae visible at base
  • anterior margin of prosternum not projecting forward, not partly covering mouth

Wedge-shaped; subdepressed; color red with yellow-brown markings, without metallic sheen; total length 6.5 to 12.0 mm.

Head: cephalic plate quadrate, with medial sulcus; frontal horn extremely short, truncate at apex.

Antenna: as long as head and pronotum combined; with 11-antennomeres; antennomere 1 incrassate, longer than 2 and 3 combined; 4 to 10 subequal in length, each shorter than 3; 11 longer than 10, pointed at apex.

Pronotum: subquadrate; convex; lateral margin sinuate for basal ¾, then converging; anterior angle oblique, without seta; anterior margin curved; posterior angle acute; posterior margin bisinuate; surface punctate.

Scutellum: subtriangular.

Elytron: lateral margin slightly expanding apically, smooth; exterior apical angle rounded; apex subtruncate; humerus angulate, not produced; with 8 rows of punctures basally plus scutellar row, 10 rows apically; interspaces narrow, costae more distinct basally.
