Brief description
Small aroid. Stem erect or decumbent, typically condensed; roots with adventitious shoots. Leaves alternate to spiral; petiole sheath short, ligule long, triangular; leaf blade elongate-lanceolate to elliptic or oblonceolate; apex typically with tubular mucro; base cuneate; venation pinnate with distinct marginal vein. Inflorescence a spathe and spadix emerging vertically from leaf axils, becoming horizontal or downturned at maturity; peduncle subequal to or longer than petiole; spathe stoutly ellipsoid, not constricted, pink, persistent, gaping at anthesis, apex cuspidate to acuminate; spadix sessile. Infructescence a cluster of free berries,within spathe, finally disintegrating.
